Pedro Abrantes joined Urban Transport Group (then pteg) in March 2010. As Senior Economist, Pedro provides strategic and technical advice to Urban Transport Group members on a wide range of transport economics and policy issues as well as specifying, procuring and carrying out research on their behalf. He is the technical lead on a wide range of issues including rail, concessionary reimbursement, regulation and demand modelling.
Pedro is also a Visiting Lecturer at the Institute for Transport Studies (University of Leeds), where he was Lecturer in Public Transport between 2007 and 2010. He previously worked in academia and consultancy in Portugal and the UK, specialising in transport modelling. Amongst other things, he was involved in the 2004 Road Pricing Feasibility Study and led the development of the Portuguese National Transport Model.
