Satisfaction

User satisfaction data provides us with an insight into how people rate their public transport services. This data is important as if we are to attract new passengers we need to make sure that the public transport offer meets their requirements and expectations. This section contains data from the National Travel Survey, followed by links to key satisfaction surveys conducted by Transport Focus.

National Travel Survey Satisfaction

Overall satisfaction

People who use buses and walk have the highest proportion of 'very satisfied' travellers. Cyclists are most likely to be 'very dissatisfied’.  

Bus and rail reliability satisfaction

There are more people very satisfied with the reliability of their bus compared to rail, with more people only fairly satisfied with the reliability of their rail service (over the bus).

Bus and rail frequency satisfaction

The graph below shows that the majority of passengers are fairly satisfied with the frequency of their bus and rail services, with a higher level of satisfaction among rail passengers than bus passengers.

Train

The main satisfaction survey for train travel is undertaken by Transport Focus each year. A link to the most recent survey can be found below. This provides information on overall trends, as well as trends by issue, region and Train Operating Company (TOC).

Road

There is not currently a nation wide satisfaction survey for road users. However, Transport Focus are in the process of developing one over the coming year. Keep your eye on the weblink below for when this is added. There are however links to smaller scale surveys that have taken place.
