UK Tram

UK Tram is the voice of the tram industry in the UK and represents operators, promoters, manufacturers, contractors and consultants covering not just tramways but also Ultra Light Rail (ULR) and Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) modes.

As an umbrella body UK Tram brings together organisations with an interest in the future development of tramways in the UK. These organisations are the Urban Transport Group, Confederation of Passenger Transport, Light Rail Transit Forum and London Tramlink.  The development of UK Tram is overseen by a board made up of representatives of each of the member organisations.

With the emphasis on economic growth and carbon reduction, the right sustainable transport solutions are needed in our towns and cities. UK Tram believes trams deliver these goals and provides advice to promoters considering tram, ULR or PRT systems.

UK Tram has published a number of guidance notes and they have an ambitious programme of further work tasked to them in the DfT report 'Green Light for Light Rail'.
