Our response argues that CAV technology has the potential to bring environmental and safety benefits but, to achieve these, its introduction must be managed in such a way as to protect the wider public good, with local authorities well placed to make sure the necessary safeguards are in place, if given the powers to regulate CAV-based passenger services operating in their areas.
